The wedding season for this year is officially passed for me. I’m so grateful for each one of the couples I’ve worked with as well as the families and individuals who have all hired me as an artist. I have felt so seen for the intentionality I aim to have.
I have realized that I best create visual art when there is relationship and my imagination is given liberty, which takes time and minimal pressure. I will be considering this as I enter into weddings in the future. My ultimate goal with photography is to be hired as a complete fly-on-the-wall artist, eyes and heart wide open to emotion, story, and beauty. I want to experiment more, step out of my comfort zone, and reignite the spirit I initially began with by pursuing creative shoots. It’s been a busy summer and I’ve truthfully exhausted myself, but I love photography at its core too much to stop. Therefore I shall readjust and change, as one does, and work on some new perimeters for myself for next season.
After I went full-time, I made the choice mid-summer to honor each medium I practice by dividing them into the seasons, so as we approach autumn and winter, I will be setting aside photography and focusing on poetry and painting again. I will be preparing for next photography season, which picks up in April 2025, during this time also. You are invited to inquire at any time! I have some exciting opportunities with painting, but I am most excited to prioritize writing again as it’s what I believe I’m put on this earth to do. I had a huge realization that writing has been supplementing my visual art, when my visual art is meant to supplement my writing. This means I will be making an effort to involve poetry much more in my craft. What makes me come most alive is poetry, and I ache to share that, encouraging others to become familiar to the beauty of complex language and the slowness that’s required to absorb it. I also hope to help dismantle the belief that understanding poetry is needed for it to matter. I’m excited for the changes that will inevitably come in my visual craft as I explore how to do that more. As for painting, my commissions will be open through April.
