In August of 2020, I took a trip with my parents to Alaska, where we first stayed on a small stretch of land hugged by the Pacific in an off grid cabin. I will always remember the palette of that place--deep greens, teals, and purples, and so much texture with the fungi and rocks. I'm a strong believer that color affects our emotions, and at that time I was feeling so much longing and loneliness in the exact shades of Alaska. This boat would remain anchored off-shore, low or high tide, alone and still. I caught this moment and felt the hope that the contrasting white segulls brought to the image.
